You will wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
Moving Services
Trying to figure out moving from the home where you have lived for decades is kind of like looking at a big knot of gold chains in your jewelry box: you know that some of the knot is not worth saving. How do you separate out the valuable pieces, the ones you want to pass along to your grandchildren?
How do you start? The last time you moved, you didn’t have nearly the “stuff” you have now – in the attic, in the basement, in the shed, in the rented storage which costs money every month.
Moving can mean one of three things:
1.
Get rid of everything which includes throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Expense: one time dumpster that sends everything to the landfill.
2.
Keep everything which means that your “stuff” owns you and is determining what you will spend every month in order to keep it.
Expense: monthly storage prices that will never go down.
3.
Thin out your possessions and take stock of what will serve you in your next home.
Expense: short term consulting fee that will help untie the knots so you can live your best life.
HomeShift’s mission is to provide our clients with two products:
The Vault and The Root
The Vault
The Vault is a file customized to organize all the client’s essential documents such as identification, accounts, medical documents, insurance papers, wills and business records pertaining to the client’s new home, as well as any other documents the client will want access easily in the new home. This is a secure and portable file box that travels with the client.
By creating this special container to keep all the client’s most important documents and always keeping it accessible helps to eliminate that “OMG! Where’s _________?” moment we all dread when life is in flux. It has become a cherished element of a HomeShift managed move for more than 30 years.
The Root
The Root is a collection curated from the client’s possessions which is intended to honor the client’s life journey. The collection may contain anything that the client would like to have in their new living space which will remind them of their accomplishments and their legacy and may include art for the walls, a small library, materials to create an altar, or significant clothing because you never know when you are going to need the outfit that gives you superhuman powers.
The volume of space available is restricted by the size of the new living quarters of course, but there is no need to downsize until there’s nothing left to bring but sweatpants and t shirts! The Root that travels with the client to the new home is created to inspire positivity and self-esteem. Transitions to new settings can be challenging and creating a new home for the client with familiar items helps to ease the changes and keep the client centered without feeling lost in the shuffle.
